TLDR: We're now supporting Base network, giving users more options and greater stability for deploying communities on Votecaster (prev. Farcaster.vote). This marks the first step in transforming Votecaster into a governance-focused Farcaster client with an incentive-based system.
Until today, the only way to deploy communities on Votecaster was on Degenchain. We chose this network for its really low fees and growing ecosystem. However, despite being an interesting experiment, Degenchain has faced challenges with user adoption. Several bugs, which have caused downtimes and even users to lose their funds, are making people avoid bridging their assets to Degenchain. And this has had an impact on us.
Extending support to Base
This situation has led us to decide to extend support to other networks, starting with Base. Now, you can deploy Votecaster communities on Base (Ethereum L2). While Degenchain remains available, Base will become our default network.
This move aims to provide a more stable experience and a stronger foundation for our governance solutions, as we advance towards creating an incentivized governance system and a Farcaster client focused on governance.
What's next?
Looking to the future, we're gearing up to transform Votecaster into a governance-centric Farcaster client, with a points system (more info on this soon) to encourage participation and support governance experiments. These enhancements will work alongside our existing features like support for different census types (Channel, ERC20, NFT, account followers,...), Direct Cast notifications and poll analytics, among many others.
Our mission is still to seamlessly integrate DAO governance into social feeds, solving many of the current pain points in Web3 governance.
Deploy your community on Base
We invite you to join Votecaster by deploying your community on Base today. Special rewards await those who create communities and run polls early. 😉
Stay tuned for more updates following us on Farcaster, as we continue to roll out new features and improvements designed to make governance participation and experimentation easier and more engaging!
