With the integration of the Vocdoni Protocol into the New Belarus app, all Belarusians can now participate in votes after registering and validating their citizenship. This integration offers verifiability, transparency, censorship resistance, and scalability in governance.

The first vote conducted with our protocol was to elect the Coordination Council, a body representing Belarusian democratic forces and civil society. The voting was a success, with 6,723 votes cast and international observers.

Vocdoni Protocol remains a reliable solution for any entity aiming to enhance democracy and participation in communities, organizations, and governments. Especially when there is a threat to the integrity of the vote and censorship.

What is New Belarus?

New Belarus envisions a democratic, prosperous future for Belarus, emphasizing democracy, rule of law, and social justice. The society aims for accountable governance, protected human rights, and equal opportunities for all citizens. Key focuses include education, healthcare, a free-market economy, a strong civil society, cultural diversity, and European integration.

The New Belarus platform, accessible via an app, offers a comprehensive range of services including medical and legal assistance, online education, job opportunities, and business advice.

Recently, the Vocdoni voting protocol was integrated into the platform to facilitate secure and transparent voting, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of the electoral process.

The Importance of the Coordination Council

The Coordination Council, initiated by Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya in August 2020, serves as a representative body for democratic forces and civil society in Belarus. It aims to address the political crisis, ensure social cohesion, and protect the sovereignty of Belarus. Operating remotely due to government repression, the Council is a unifying platform for various political and civil organizations, fostering collaboration and democratic change.

The Role of Vocdoni in the Elections

The elections to the Coordination Council, held from May 25 to May 28, 2024, finished with 6,723 votes cast. Given the challenging political environment in Belarus, ensuring the integrity and security of the voting process is paramount. Vocdoni's blockchain-based voting protocol, provides the ideal solution for this critical task.

  • Security: Vocdoni ensures that every vote is securely recorded and protected from tampering.

  • Transparency: The blockchain ledger provides a transparent and auditable record of all votes cast. This transparency helps build trust among voters, as they can independently verify that their votes have been correctly recorded and counted.

  • Censorship Resistance: In an environment where the government may attempt to suppress democratic processes, Vocdoni's decentralized nature ensures that the voting process cannot be easily blocked.

  • Scalability: Vocdoni can handle a large number of votes efficiently, making it suitable for elections of this size.

This helped to ensure that the election results genuinely reflect the will of the people, laying a strong foundation for future democratic governance in Belarus.
